Hit the Weights

When people think about working out they automatically get discouraged because they either don’t enjoy it or find it intimidating. Not knowing how to work out is a real thing that takes practice to figure out what works for you.

When I started working out I went to a gym back home and literally did the same workout routine every day. I did cardio then worked every muscles group for about an hour. I never understood why I wasn’t seeing a change and I was just maintaining my weight.

Most people will look up workouts on the internet and that’s exactly what I did when I started rotating days. I found out if you do the same routine every day, your body knows how much energy to exert so your heart rate doesn’t go as fast so you aren’t burning as many calories.

Majority of my workouts come from Instagram. I follow fitness accounts and do their workouts depending on what muscle group I am doing that day. I like Instagram videos because I can see the exercise being performed in a short clip.

My week consists of, Monday-legs, Tuesday-arms, Wednesday- abs and cardio, Thursday-full body. Now that is not always consistent considering I get lazy and sometimes only workout about twice a week.

Some people don’t go to the gym because they feel intimidated and are worried about people watching them. I can promise you most of the time, thats not the case. People are trying to get their workout done and get out so don’t worry about what’s going on around you or be intimidated by all the people.

Incorporating weights is so important when it comes to building muscle and toning up. Body weight exercises are good for starting out but going up in weight will burn calories and build muscle fast.

When I started working out, I tried to slim down then tone up. So, I ran or did some kind of cardio every day because it burns calories the fastest. I ran at least a mile every day then would do the rest of my workout. I just recently started challenging myself with heavier weights so I can get defined muscle definition.

With all of that being said, this is what worked for me. Everyone’s bodies are different so play around with some different routines and find which ones work the best for you!
